JULY 2025

Thank you Colin Gilbey

As some of you will know, Colin Gilbey, a stalwart of our Committee for almost 10 years, has stepped down recently, the Committee would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Colin for all his work over his time in the role.

Colin has tirelessly worked as our membership secretary and in a multitude of other capacities across our committee over his years of service. Often in the background, taking responsibility and ownership of many of the essential aspects of running the club day to day to ensure we can all continue to enjoy the facilities and can all enjoy Tennis in a fully functioning club.

We wish Colin all the best for the future as a valued member of the club and once again thank him for all of his hard work for the club.

Club Tournament Honours Boards
- A Lasting Legacy for Our Club

We are deeply grateful to the late Derek Hayes, whose generous bequest to the club has allowed us to refurbish our “Club Championships” boards. Thanks to his thoughtful gift, these cherished displays have been given new life and will serve our community for many years to come. Derek’s support leaves a lasting legacy, and we honour his memory with sincere appreciation.

Hot Off the Court!

Wimbledon Wooden Racket Charity Doubles Fun Tournament Recap

The sun was shining on Sunday and the vintage vibes were immaculate as 18 enthusiastic members took to the court in style — swinging their wooden rackets with flair!

💚 Together, we raised £200 for MYTIME Young Carers, supporting the incredible young people who selflessly care for others.

🏆 A huge congratulations to Aaron and Pete, who claimed victory in a morning full of friendly competition, laughs, and purpose.

📸 Thanks to everyone who joined us! Your energy and generosity made this event truly special.

FIRST EVER! STC Girls Only Fast 4 Fun Tournament

A big shout out to the 12 girls who took part in the STC Girls Only Fast 4 Fun Tournament on Sunday 13th July 2025!

They all played brilliantly, persevering in the blazing heat. What troopers! For many it was the first time they’d experienced competing in this way. They should all be very proud of themselves.

In the end, long-time member Freya Miller was crowned the eventual champion 🏆. She’s off to university soon and we wish her the very best for the future.

We hope to make this an annual event and look forward to seeing the rest of the participants back out on our courts soon 🎾☀️

11th Annual Learning Disability Tournament

COURT SIDE NEWS & REMINDERS

Clubhouse Use

If you’re using the clubhouse, please help keep it looking its best by tidying up after yourself. Wipe down any surfaces, pop things back where they belong, and take any rubbish with you.

Remember, if you’re the last to leave, don’t forget to lock up to make sure everything is secure. You can lock the patio doors with the key on the string from inside the clubhouse and then ensure the indoor control panel shows the moon symbol to lock the front door as you leave.

In light of recent incidents of individuals (non-members) loitering on club grounds. Please ensure that when you are leaving the clubhouse you ensure all the doors are locked (using the key on the court 1-3 side door and selecting the half-moon symbol button on the courts 4-6 side door and checking the door to ensure it has locked correctly once closed).

Thanks for helping keep our club clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone!

Court Brushing

Courts 1-3 were recently re-sanded, therefore please ensure you use the brushes by Court 1 to brush the courts before and/or after you play, this will ensure the sand remains evenly distributed across the courts and helps protect the surface from uneven wear.

Use of Club Balls

When using the Courts outside of designated club session play, please ensure you are using your own tennis balls. Club balls should only be utilised for designated club sessions and club matches.

'OUT!'
